Angels All Around Us
What do mail carriers, computers, and angels have in common?
-They all deliver messages.
While some deal in earthly letters and emails, angels deal in delivering messages from God.
In an episode of Little House on the Prairie, Laura believes that her jealousy was responsible for her infant brother's death and that her parents would rather have a son than spare a daughter.
Laura climbs the highest mountain she can find, hoping to get as close to God as possible to ask Him to take her instead and return her baby brother to the family.
"It sure is a long way up here, God, but I wanted to get as close to you as I could. The Reverend Alden, you know him. He said you could help me. See, God, I was supposed to pray for my brother when he was sick, so he would get better again, and well, I didn't do it.
I had mean thoughts. I said later that I didn't really mean it, and that I really wanted him to be well again, but I guess you didn't hear me. And now I want to make it right. You see, God, Pa has three girls; me, Mary and Carrie. And what he really needs is a son, like you had, God."
"So I was wondering, since you already have a son, maybe you would like a girl with you and you could send my brother back to Pa.
Well, that's about it. I'll just wait here. Amen."
While Charles and Mr. Edwards desperately search for her, Laura meets Jonathon, a mountain man who seems to have been sent purposely by God to guide her through this life changing experience. In the end, Jonathon convinces Laura that God wants her to be with her Pa and her family.
Sometimes we lose sight of the fact that there are angels not only here to protect and guide us, but some are here to test our hearts by appearing as a stranger who may need a helping hand. Either way, it's nice to know that there are angels amongst us, especially in the difficult times we are living in today.
No matter what, make room in your heart to love every believer. And show hospitality to strangers, for they may be angels from God showing up as your guests. - Hebrews 13:1-2
