Muffin of Tranquility

Within these last few months of mom being in a nursing home and then passing away recently, I've recognized the significant importance Muffin the Cat has played in her pet to human relationship with my father.

The love, joy and comfort she brings into the home is of utter importance during those difficult days when the pain of loss is felt.

Pets play an important role in our lives and I am amazed at how quickly they transition into being a part of the family.

I once saw a lost dog sign hanging on a telephone pole in the neighborhood that read:

Lost dog

Peed on the couch,

dug up the yard,

ate the kids toys,

still want him back.

Someone once said that when we get to heaven we will see people we didn't expect to be there, as for pets, I expect to see all of my family's pets there. God has placed our pets into our lives for a specific purpose, not only for the joy they bring but for the comfort they provide when dealing with loss.

Pets are a gift from God.
