Short Reprieve, But I'm Back!
After taking a pause in the action of writing, here I am with the first of many excerpts I'll be sharing from volume two of "Restoring Your Soul Through Christmas Movies", which I have been working on over the winter:
Throughout scripture there are several variations of angels given to us, one of which is an angel in disguise.
And show hospitality to strangers, for they may be angels from God showing up as your guests. - Hebrews 13:2
One Christmas film that deals with an angel in disguise is the 1947 classic The Bishop's Wife starring Cary Grant. When Bishop Henry Brougham asks God for divine guidance in a problem he is facing within his church, Henry unexpectedly receives help from an angel in the form of a handsome gentleman named Dudley, played by Cary Grant.
What makes The Bishop's Wife such an interesting story is that all Bishop Henry had prayed for was some guidance and direction, he didn't ask for an angel to come to his rescue.
In most cases, God will surprise us on how He chooses to handle our prayer requests because His answer does not fit the narrative of how we think He should handle our circumstance. And it doesn't matter whether or not God sends an angel to help you in your dilemma, for you should have a greater assurance that it is God who works all things out for our good.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. - Romans 8:28
